Nicholas Lo Joins Bitbase as Chief Business Officer

Nicholas Lo has joined Bitbase as Chief Business Officer, where he leads institutional, partner and agent growth worldwide.

Background

Nicholas began his career in traditional finance as an analyst at J.P. Morgan, followed by a strategy role in the CEO office at Airwallex. He moved into crypto in 2019, joining Bitget as a business development manager and establishing its Southeast Asia market, before a period leading APAC growth at Yuga Labs and running business development across Hong Kong FinTech Week, Finoverse and D3 Bahamas — three flagship fintech and Web3 conferences.

He joined crypto investment group Blockin as VP of Business Development, where he established three flagship businesses: Blockin Capital, a crypto quant fund; Blockin AI, an on-chain analytics platform; and BlockPurse, a crypto payments service. He went on to lead business development at BingX and, most recently, at WEEX. He is a co-founder of OffChain Hong Kong and served as an advisor to identity and compliance firm Sumsub.

Why this role, and why now

Bitbase is built for traders who take derivatives seriously. That means professional Perpetual Futures, risk controls designed to hold up when markets don't, and a platform that draws a clear line between helping people trade more and helping them trade well.

Building that kind of platform is not primarily a marketing problem. It is a question of who you partner with, which institutions you bring on, and whether the people representing you are pointed at long-term relationships or short-term volume. That is the work Nicholas owns.

In his own words

"I've spent my career watching people trade — from a bank, from an investment group, and from the business side of three exchanges. The pattern that stays with me is that the traders still standing after a full cycle are almost never the ones with the best call. They're the ones who kept the same rules when it stopped being fun. Very little in this industry is built to reward that. I came to Bitbase because it's trying to be. I'm on their side. Professionalism isn't a pitch — it's a habit."

What's next

Rather than issue a standard announcement, we asked Nicholas 25 questions and kept the answers as they came — why he came here, what we're building and who it's for, and what he's learned about which traders last.
